Taweret sculpture scan

Reproduction through photogrammetry of a museum store model of an Egyptian sculpture reveals Taweret, a goddess with the head of a hippopotamus, limbs of a lion, and tail of a crocodile in striking detail. The original sculpture dates back to 664-610 BCE, its intricate features preserved for centuries. Discovered underwater in 2001 in Abukir Bay, it stands an impressive 96cm tall. Capturing this model proved particularly demanding due to the smooth, reflective surface, which necessitated dusting it with talc to achieve a viable scan. While many defects persist, the resulting reproduction showcases Taweret's majestic presence and enduring beauty. The accompanying .obj and .mtl files allow for a colorful view of the capture, clearly showcasing the talc coating. Despite its imperfections, this reproduction conveys the original sculpture's power and majesty, inviting viewers to appreciate its ancient splendor.
