Why spend hundreds of dollars for a scary bug zapper when you can make your own for a few bucks? We both know that you're not going to tase anyone, bro. It's all about intimidation factor, and this gets the job done. Three simple printed parts. The circuit is simply two momentary switches in series with an 18650 battery and a chinese HV module. As can be seen in the section analysis screenshot, the HV leads from the module poke through the hole for the M3 threaded inserts at the tips, so when the inserts are installed they provide contact for the sharpened M3 screws that set the spark gap. As shown, the gap is ~1cm, so that's around 300 kV. Which is what you typically get from modules listed as 1,000 kV, because that's how the chinese do. These modules tend to burn out when not powered without a load, so a gap that sparks consistently is better than maxing out the length. Anyway, it's guaranteed to scare the crap out of anyone you surprise. Just don't poke anyone with it. It tingles.
