This is Tars Tarkas, leader of the Tharks, a tribe of towering green warriors from Edgar Rice Burroughs' epic Barsoom series. As Jeddak, he commands respect and inspires awe on the red planet's unforgiving landscape. A key character in the 2012 film "John Carter," his portrayal left me wanting more, prompting an in-depth analysis of the anatomy of green Martians and a meticulous study of animal features that might bring authenticity to their design - think warthog tusks, chameleon eyes, and the like.
