TARS from Interstellar (Pose-able)

thingiverse

This is a scaled-down model of the TARS robot from the movie Interstellar. I designed this replica so you can pose it in different positions using magnets. Alternate designs have been tried, including ones with axles that fit between bearings, but using magnets seems to be the best option; parts can easily be moved to pose the robot in a different stance. Magnets of 6mm x 3mm dimension are required for this model, and you'll need a total of 16 to connect all the limbs together properly. If these cannot be found at a local store, an Amazon link is provided to purchase them: https://www.amazon.com/Refrigerator-Magnets-Premium-Brushed-Nickel/dp/B07R1WVS49/ref=asc_df_B07R1WVS49/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=380344908424&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6003842227685829835&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014207&hvtargid=pla-822366463132&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=80399410511&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=380344908424&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6003842227685829835&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014207&hvtargid=pla-822366463132 UPDATE: December 27th, 2019. Scale the model exactly 997.81% on Cura or your preferred slicing software for the magnets to fit correctly. The Amazon link has been updated to provide the correct magnets. " Humor setting: 75%" Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Maker Select v2 Rafts: Yes Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 20% Notes: Printing with a raft is essential for the outer limbs because they are built on top of small rectangular platforms that can easily fall off if the bed plate does not hold them securely. Using a raft for the outer limbs has proven to be the best solution. You will need to print 2 "Tars Side Section" files. (tl;dr) Print with a raft for the "Tars Side Section" file. The others do not require a raft. If you wish to print the limbs separately, to avoid warping caused by printing such a large surface area object, separate files have been attached for you to print. Remember, print at lower speeds (25mm/s) to obtain the highest resolution this object has to offer. Printing at speeds of up to 50mm/s is recommended.
