Tardis Light-up Christmas ornament
thingiverse
This is a Tardis Christmas ornament equipped with an LED lamp that needs at least one white LED, a resistor to provide just enough current for it to shine brightly, a li-ion or li-poly battery that will fit inside, a TP4056 charger board featuring overdischarge protection and a generic SPDT switch commonly used in toys, solar garden lamps, and other items. Painting the interior white enhances the LED's brightness, allowing you to reduce the current and extend its lifespan. I used two warm white SMD LEDs soldered back-to-back in parallel for better lighting angle and a 200-ohm resistor. The battery should be as large as possible while still fitting inside; mine measures 28x35x4mm with a capacity of 290mAh. Replace the resistor marked on the photo with one having a higher value to reduce the battery current to half or less of its capacity. Unfortunately, I didn't capture images of the assembled interior part before inserting it and it's not designed for disassembly - it either fits perfectly in place or you glue it in. The board should latch securely into position but can still be glued if necessary; the switch is attached by mushrooming the two screws that go into its mounting holes with a soldering iron, just like in those toys or garden lights. I created the window panes using tracing paper glued in with superglue, and the stickers are standard A4-sized paper (print full-page size without checking "scale to fit"). To prevent the superglue from seeping in, I applied clear tape on their rear side before cutting them out, then glued them onto that. If the text or windows don't cut cleanly, increase your "horizontal expansion" setting. The hole at the top must be drilled, as I didn't want it to be large, and small holes often print unreliably.
