Tardis Light Switch Plate
thingiverse
My entry in the Tardis Light Switch Face Plate Challenge was a total success:-)\nThe original design had some major flaws that I knew I could fix. The first issue was that it didn't fit flush to the wall, which meant it wouldn't cover as much space as a standard face plate. But I'm a perfectionist, so I decided to take on the challenge and create a two-piece face plate that snaps together for perfect alignment when mounted. This design also allowed me to add a cavity in the back plate that clears the switch's ears, making it easier to install.\nThe mounting screws hold both the front and back plates in place securely, which is exactly what I was looking for. Now all I need to do is touch up the screw heads with some blue paint so they blend in seamlessly with the rest of the design, and add a decal to the front of the plate to give it that extra special something.\nUpdate Jan 29 2017 - I've added an improved face plate design that eliminates the ridge running along the switch, making it even easier to flip the switch on and off. It's a small but significant upgrade that makes all the difference in the world.\nFeb 4, 2017 - I've also created a more relaxed bottom plate for a snugger fit. I call it Tardis_Switch_Plate_Bottom_Relaxed, and it's perfect for anyone who wants a hassle-free installation. Print Settings: Printer: Kossel Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 10% Notes: Two raised edges on the backing plate ensure a snug fit for the front face. It's a tight squeeze, but it's worth it for the perfect finish. I've also uploaded a more relaxed bottom plate to make installation a breeze.
