It was discovered in the Nemegt Formation of Mongolia. Tarchia was a medium-sized herbivorous dinosaur, measuring around 13 feet long and weighing roughly 3 tons. It was characterized by its heavily armored body, covered in thick bony plates called osteoderms, and a clubbed tail for defense. The skull of Tarchia featured a beak-like snout with rows of leaf-shaped teeth for efficiently processing vegetation. This dinosaur's robust armor and defensive weaponry suggest it was well adapted to protect itself against predators in its environment.
