Tarantula Dual Inverted Z - Shorter Oldham Tops
thingiverse
I've been upgrading my dual stepper setup by swapping out the old z-axis assembly with a new one. The new design is based on this thing: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2334406/files, but since I'm using a thicker x-rail system, which is actually version 3058334 on Thingiverse, the "oldham tops" just won't fit - they're too long for my setup, with a distance of 32.5mm between the M4 screw holes and the z-axis hole, whereas I needed 30mm. To fix this issue, I simply shaved off 2.5mm from the middle of both oldham tops to bring them in line with my needs. Additionally, I trimmed an extra 1mm from one of the left-hand sides because it was sticking out a bit too far on the other side of the x-beam. I also created a custom version for the right-hand oldham top since there wasn't enough space between the two bolts on the bottom for both to fit. Printing in the recommended orientation with support is definitely the way to go.
