Taranis Antenna Mod - no dremel required
thingiverse
USE RG316 or RG178 coax cable with female RPSMA connector as recommended by IBCrazy, not the thinner stuff that just bleeds signal and limits range dramatically. IT WORKS GREAT. Enjoy! Another trick uses a hacksaw and Dremel to modify the antenna hole on the top of the Taranis, but it's simpler to print a part that fits snugly into place. Instead of hacking with a saw, I used a flush-cut saw which is much finer and cuts plastic like butter, cutting two rings after removing the stock antenna. This leaves a ring of plastic and a 9mm hole; half of the plastic ring fits perfectly on the other side of the radio case. I then made a cut along the seam of the case to remove that ring; a line was cut, and with flush-cutters and a razor, I tidied it up nicely. When joined, the opening consists of a 9mm half-circle and a 13mm diameter on the other side, this part fits perfectly into place. In order for the SMA connector to fit well and have plenty of thread exposed, I shifted the hole off-center; there are also two supports that fit the Taranis case and support the antenna.
