Taramelliceras (Oxfordian superior, Jurassic superior, approximately 155 million years). Sierra de Segura (Jaén). Class Cephalopoda, Subclass Ammonoidea, Order Ammonitida, Superfamily Haplocerataceae, Family Oppelidae. The haploceratids, to which the genus Taramelliceras belongs, are relatively involuted ammonites that lived mainly in open marine platforms. They are characterized by having a relatively compressed shell with an ornamentation consisting of thick, low-relief shells that bifurcate or trifurcate at mid-flank, becoming falcate ribs that traverse the ventral region. In some Taramelliceras, tubercles develop on the marginoventral edge. CEA-Tierra UJA. Institute of Iberian Studies. Projects 2018
