I embarked on this project after struggling to keep up with the recent Wild West Competition, so I decided to pace myself and focus on producing high-quality work. As a result, I'm thrilled with my progress. Naturally, there are numerous areas where I can improve for future projects, as is always the case, leaving me eager for my next endeavor. 81,915 triangles comprise my total polygon count, while my character model boasts 67,812 individual units. My workflow consisted of mixing both 4K and 2K map resolutions to achieve optimal results. ZBrush played a crucial role in creating concept art and high-poly details, as well as posing my character. Meanwhile, hair was meticulously crafted using XGen within Maya, with some final adjustments made in Affinity Photo to ensure perfect blend with the rest of the scene. I took it upon myself to place all card elements by hand within Maya, supplemented with XGen for initial placement guidance. Through experimentation, I've discovered that manual placement consistently yields better outcomes. To refine textures and map editing, I relied on Substance Painter in combination with some tweaks in Affinity Photo. Retopology and UV unwrapping were accomplished within Maya, although Blender served as a valuable ally whenever Maya's workflow faltered. My original concept art was kindly provided by talented artist Torvic, showcased on his ArtStation profile: https://www.artstation.com/torvic
