Tappan Oven Knob
thingiverse
The original knob for this oven refused to stay on and eventually got melted when left unattended on the stovetop. So, I took matters into my own hands and designed a replacement in OpenSCAD. This is my first printout of the design, and it could definitely benefit from some tweaks if I decide to print another one. It doesn't extend quite as far as the original, and its dimensions are slightly different, but it gets the job done pretty well. The metal ring with settings printed on it will fit perfectly onto this new knob. I chose not to include the little tabs that kept the original aligned, deciding instead to leave them off. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa I3 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: .2 Infill: 40% Notes: I opted for 40% infill for added strength, mainly because the bottom post is thin and could snap off if you turn the knob too aggressively. You might be able to get away with something like 20% infill if you're not rough on it. And I went with .2 layer height just for speed, as I'd had some issues before. It works well enough, but I strongly recommend printing at .1 for a smoother finish, since you'll likely be handling the knob a lot.
