Simple, effective, and production cost efficient design. Screw and nut compress the rubber insert making it expend inside the handlebar tubing. After which a threaded endcap is applied by threading by hand. Also inside finishing cap a rubber ring may be added to prevent overthreading as well as making it shock resistant to unscrew with time and use. Clamps shell not be modified in my opinion. Current function is optimal, design might be chenged if desired. Cheers.
