thingiverse
An enclosure designed specifically for the 1541 Ultimate II tape adapter, compatible with Commodore 64 and 128 systems. http://www.1541ultimate.net/content/index.php In addition to safeguarding the bare circuit board, this protective casing securely holds the extra length of ribbon cable in place. Trim the pins on the circuit board's underside, then apply a couple of layers of electrical tape over the sharp points to prevent damage to the ribbon cable. Photos demonstrate the 1541U2 and tape adapter installed on a Commodore 128. This enclosure allows easy access to the two jumpers without requiring shell removal. If you don't route the ribbon cable inside the shell, you can also disconnect it without removing the shell. To assemble the enclosure, use two 12mm long M3 or M4 screws and two nuts to hold the shell together, or opt for a plastic tie instead. Note that this shell is not compatible with the newer 1541U2+ tape adapter, which features a larger circuit board of different dimensions. Consider using this alternative model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3182150 Updated on April 9, 2019: v1.1 models exhibit less up-down circuit board movement at the piggyback connector, and include unshrouded piggyback connector designs for accommodating devices with larger plugs.
