To help keep hand or machine taps square/perpendicular when starting cutting and tapping parts. Great for tapping holes in flat plates, 2 fingers can be used to hold the guide in place when tapping It's an old engineering trick, i used to turn the "top hats" as we call them out of scrap plastic rod but printing quicker and easier! Models can be modfied to suit what ever diameter shank your tap has. M3, M4, M5, M6 & M8 sizes covered.
