The TankRap 3D printer is an easy-to-assemble machine built for durability and precision. This design requires Trinity Labs lead screw X and Y drives; however, the company that sold them has gone out of business. Replacement options are yet to be found, so ensure you have the required parts in hand before commencing construction. The printer is scalable on any axis, and its frame axes can be mounted to plywood or acrylic for enclosure purposes. Note that this project is a work in progress; it has been constructed and is undergoing testing. It's not recommended for first-time 3D printers due to the amount of plastic required and the complexity of the design. The original design used Bulldog XL extruders, but issues with extrusion have led to a redesign that now accommodates Greg/Wade Accessible Extruders paired with Buda hot ends from Airwolf 3D. Download the latest build PDF for instructions on printing necessary parts: 8x cube vertex, 2x Z motor mounts, 2x Z idlers, and an X carriage based on your chosen hot end type. The printer also requires Trinity Labs lead screws, a Greg/Wade Hinged Accessible Extruder, a Reprapdiscount Rumba control board kit, NEMA stepper motors (1xX, 1xY, and 2xZ), Airwolf 3D hot ends, and precise labeling and organization of parts. Ensure to check part compatibility and calibrate the printer before use. The build instructions are available in the PDF provided.
