This tankard boasts a cylindrical body atop a flat base and showcases an angular handle, resembling many Iznik creations from the second half of AH 10th / AD 16th century. It is thought that this shape derived from leather or wooden prototypes. The vessel features underglaze painting in two shades of blue - diluted turquoise and opaque red - on a white background. Its exterior decoration, featuring alternating large oval medallions filled with rosettes and flowering shrubs, is characteristic of Iznik ceramics and tiles throughout the AH 10th-11th / AD 16th-17th centuries. The edges of spirals reflect Chinese influence, as they trace back to the 'waves and rock' motif often seen on Iznik plates' rims. The tankard bears a crescent and asterisk marking on its foot. Its dimensions are 21 cm in height and a rim diameter of 10.5 cm.
