Human: Tank T-40 Soviet Mental Ray The T-40 amphibious scout tank was a light tank used by the Soviet Union during World War II. It came equipped with one powerful 12.7 mm DShK machine gun. This tank was capable of fording rivers without a bridge, making it a valuable asset in combat situations. Its primary role was to equip reconnaissance units with its ability to navigate through challenging terrain. A land-based version of the T-40, known as the T-40S, was produced but later redesignated as the T-60 due to the latter's superior performance and features. The T-60 was cheaper, simpler, and better-armed, allowing it to fulfill most reconnaissance roles. The T-40 saw action primarily in Operation Barbarossa and the defense of Moscow before being rarely seen on the battlefield. However, it continued to be used in Soviet training schools until 1946. A total of 44 examples were later modified with Katyusha rocket launchers, firing unguided 82 mm rockets from a 24-rail launcher.
