The Soviet IS-3M tank, developed in late 1944 and manufactured in May 1945, boasted an upgraded armor layout and a semispherical cast turret, which became a distinguishing feature of post-war Soviet tanks. Despite the low turret improving protection, it reduced headroom, particularly for the loader, and limited maximum gun depression due to tight space within the turret.
