The Tangram puzzle had already been well-known in China for many years when Captain M. Donnaldson first brought it to America on his ship, the Trader, in 1815. As the Trader docked in Canton, Captain Donnaldson was given two Tangram books from Sang-Hsia-koi, published in 1815.[5] The captain then took these books with him when the ship sailed to Philadelphia, where it arrived in February 1816. The first Tangram book ever printed in America was based on the pair brought by Captain Donnaldson. I often find myself reminiscing about the games we used to play back in our day (the 1960s). We were poor and didn't have many toys, but Tangram was one of those puzzles that stood out for its intuitive nature and ability to challenge anyone's mind. Although it may not have been as widely popular as Lego at the time, Tangram was a timeless classic. There are only twelve Thingiverse members who had posted the Tangram before I joined as the thirteenth member, and I decided to add a tray to hold all seven pieces together. You can search for "Tangram" online and discover countless styles and patterns that kids (four years old and above) will love playing with.
