Tangential PTFE Adapter for SUNLU Filament Dryer
prusaprinters
The original filament outlet of the Sunlu filament dryer (S2, others as well) is perpendicular to the surface but the filament comes off the spool rather tangential and hence the filament is bended inside and creates unwanted friction. This filament dryer PTFE adapter guides the filament tangential through the cover with less bending and friction. A standard 4mm PTFE tube can be plugged outside to further guide the filament. Designed to print without supports when placing the flat PTFE outlet side to the build plate (all overhangs max 45° then).Mounting requires removing of the original short PTFE tube part and drilling a straight 10mm hole into the original one. Other models require drilling a tilted hole, which I didn't like and found even dangerous, since most of the inside surface is covered with heating foil and could easily be harmed when drilling in a tilted orientation. The adapter can be oriented both horizontally and vertically. However, when going for horizontal orientation it might require cutting away a bit of a plastic protusion of the original cover inside (easy with side cutter/pliers), since it is unsymmetrical on the inside.Feel free to add some adhesive tape (or a bit of glue stick) underneath to fix the orientation. It does not have to be 100% airtight, since the filament dryer is heated and not airtight anyway (which is intended as there has to be some air circulation to get rid of the humidity).Hope it's useful for someone.Cheers, ER!K
