Tamiya Truck 1/14 Diff Lock Servo Mount and Fifth Wheel Release Plate Replacement
thingiverse
I installed a lockable differential axle on my Scania R620 but needed a way to attach a servo for actuation and manage the cable housing at the servo end. I assumed that this setup would work with most European COE semi-trucks and possibly any semi-truck. Holes may need to be drilled into the top of the frame rails to secure the top plate. This system replaces the fifth wheel release arm plate and adds a mount that screws onto the bottom of the plate, attaches to one side of the servo and includes a cable stop. The servo mount attaches to both the top plate and the frame rail. A hole will need to be drilled in the rail and tapped for a standard 3mm Tamiya screw where it attaches to the frame rail. I haven't attached that part yet, but it seems to work fine, so it may not be necessary. The cable stop/servo mount has four holes to allow locking four axles and managing their respective cables. For the other side of the servo mount, I used a stock tree piece from a Tamiya truck. This part could easily be designed and 3D printed, but I didn't do it for this project. Print Settings: Printer: Prusa i3 mk2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .15-.3 Infill: 20-40 Notes: If you use a 30% infill that is criss-cross and add two to three layers of top, it will have a textured look similar to an anti-slip surface. There's a photo above showing this effect.
