Tamiya Hornet Front Chassis Reinforcement

Tamiya Hornet Front Chassis Reinforcement

My 30 year old Tamiya Hornet came out of storage with a slightly cracked front left chassis, right over the front wheel axel. This soon developed into a full on break. Not wanting to replace the entire chassis for sentimental reasons, I designed some reinforcement pieces that can be glued in place. The left side is more prone to cracking, but I recommend reinforcing both sides. The designs are for the right side of the car and can be mirrored for the left side. You may need to do some sanding and filing to get it to fit snugly. Make sure you don't have any air gaps and that the pieces are flush with the side and bottom of the chassis. You can paint the pieces and surrounding glue after it's dried to make it blend in better. Once affixed, they are practically unnoticeable. The glue I used works extremely well, it bonds tightly but isn't too brittle. It flexes a bit and melts the plastic to form a strong weld. First glue together any existing cracks, then add the reinforcement pieces. Glue Used: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KLDKZV7 I've used this car a lot since reinforcing the front end and it's fantastic. It's stronger and tougher.
