Tamiya Grasshopper Adapter to use Futaba FX-10 Front Suspension Upgrade
thingiverse
This piece is designed for installing CPR's Futaba FX-10 front suspension upgrade on Tamiya Grasshopper models (I, II, Superhornet, others). Grasshopper and FX-10 share common elements, allowing use of the FX-10 front suspension upgrade on the Tamiya. However, it is necessary to cut the tower suspension and some parts of the chassis. Some people have used a solution that requires cutting vital reinforcements, which can lead to broken chassis. My design aims to minimize material removal from the chassis while enabling wide damper use. Print Settings: - Printer Brand: RepRap - Printer Model: Prusa i3 Steel - Rafts: No rafts were printed. - Supports: None were generated. - Resolution: The print resolution is set at 0.2mm. - Infill Pattern: Hexagonal, with a density of 15%. Notes: This upgrade was printed on PLA. Post-Printing Instructions: Drill holes in the suspension using a 3mm drill bit to account for printer tolerances (only the four suspension holes were drilled, not the two chassis holes). Apply heat when inserting nuts to prevent damage. Create a paper template to drill the two chassis holes, and use Tamiya's self-drilling screws as specified. Design Background: This upgrade has been in development for over three years. Initially, I planned to create the upgrade using 1.5mm PCB layers and a wooden piece. However, this proved time-consuming, so I translated the design into a printable format, enabling completion of the installation within one afternoon.
