Talos rocket booster scaled down to 1/5.3, similar in size to Estes Pro Series II Nike Smoke kit. The Talos booster has been used as a first stage for various sounding rockets and missiles. This design features spin motors like those used on the Talos Terrier Oriole and Black Brant 11 and 12. This build anticipates printing body sleeves to adapt 5" shipping tubes to the scaled-up size of 5.75". The Interstage is sized for a 5" mailing tube, similar to U-Line's offerings. The base has a space for an av-bay designed to fit Estes Pro Series II's 2" coupler with integrated 3mm threads for all-thread to hold the end cap in place. The upper coupler is sized for 3.44" body tubes found in the [OOP] Estes Mercury Atlas kit, allowing a length of Estes Pro Series II 3" body tube to be glued in as reinforcement. Notches are provided on the couple for a close fit with the centering ring of the rocket being boosted, accommodating plastic tubing wiring chases. The Spin Motor mounts are designed to hold two 13mm motor tubes. Two mounts are printed and solvent welded to the Interstage at the base of the cone, positioned at the top of the coupler's wide notches. Four Fins are printed and glued to the Aft Body Sleeve. The fins have an internal channel for three layers of 3mm plywood to act as stiffeners and pass through the body tube wall to the motor mount. Updated 4/23/20 with modifications to the interstage, including wiring channels and notches for torque pins.
