talon hand tensioner
thingiverse
Ivan Owen's talon tensioner design (available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:232291) has been combined with the Talon base piece by an individual who also mentions David Orgeman's openSCAD version, expected to be uploaded soon. Orgeman created a parametric OpenSCAD design and made one with four M3 nut-sized tuners tapped with M3 threads using standard button head screws as adjusters. Testing proved them capable of holding 20 pounds without breaking and returning to normal after the weight was removed, surprising given NASA's grip strength figures. Orgeman plans to release the SCAD file on Thingiverse, stressing that strength may be related to tuner size and tap quality. Ivan Owen and David Orgeman are thanked for their development efforts.
