Talla Zooantropomorfa - Cova des Mussol MENORCA
sketchfab
Origin: Cova des Mussol (Ciutadella) Menorca. This carving is part of a collection of wooden pieces and small ceramic containers found inside room 3c of the Cova des Mussol cave. The cave is located on a cliff overlooking Cala Be, in the Punta Nati area of Ciutadella. Access to it is difficult and hazardous by both sea and land. Carved from oak or olive wood, this piece depicts the head, face, and neck of an being with human and animal characteristics. The face may be human but has two horns on top of the head. The eyes are formed by two oblique cuts, and the mouth is a horizontal cut. No ears were made, and the chin is narrow but prominent, giving it a severe and arrogant expression. It was carved from a trunk or main branch that split into two growth axes. When found, it had two cracks that were repaired in the lab, and numerous insect holes are visible.
