Tall MacBook Pro 16/17/18 Desk Stand
thingiverse
MacBook Pro 2018 stand designed to hold a large external display at a steep angle. This keeps the display perfectly vertical. It's likely compatible with 2016/17 models but their openness cannot be confirmed. Inspired by the design of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2458297, this stand aims to minimize footprint space on any desk or work surface. The steep angle and vertical display were chosen for this reason. All parts fit within an i3 Mk2S (250x210mm), barely taking up the available space. Designed to be printed in three sections - left side, right side, and two horizontal supports that get superglued into place. PLA was used for the print to ensure easy gluing. Some key points: - The laptop's screen cannot be tilted past perfectly vertical due to its position with the screen fully open. - Even at a high position, there is still a need to tilt it back slightly. A less-steep version with 15 degrees off may soon be designed. - Rubber feet will likely be added to the front of the stand to tilt it back a bit. - The laptop's center of gravity (CG) remains stable between the two contact points but shifting this CG by propping the front or back makes it unstable. A less-steep version with the same CG position will remain as stable. In the end, there's a good chance of using a vertical, closed-position stand instead. Printing this stand is recommended only for those who want their laptop as high as possible and perfectly vertical.
