I was working on a new chess set, designed to be published soon, and decided to make four of its pieces taller. To do this, I stretched four of them along the Z-axis. Next, I printed all the pieces so I could see how they looked together and liked what I saw. Due to base heights being different because of stretching, I'm currently remodeling the shorter pieces. Once I'm happy with the updated set, it will be shared publicly. Print Settings: Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: .17 Infill: 5% Notes: To make the pieces lighter, I've used a lower infill percentage. For individual parts, I'm using 60% fill density. Post-Printing: The knight has an added support under his chin that needs to be removed. Unfortunately, removing the raft is also quite challenging. How I Designed This This chess set design represents my fifth attempt at creating this set. Initially, I started working on it years ago by drawing templates for cutting 2-foot-tall wood pieces in AutoCAD 2D. Using slots allowed me to slide the pieces together. I later used Alibre to create 3D models that could be parameterized to adjust their dimensions. Even though my flat design is available, which some may find uninteresting compared to these designs, it's also worth noting. After bringing my work back into AutoCAD, I revolved the perimeters and added details to the queen and king's crowns to make them stronger for 3D printing by incorporating a spiral shaft. I have since tested printed versions in MakerBot software that revise just the heights of my pieces. These new dimensions are problematic due to their changed base sizes and so need remodeling into the taller dimensions that are required, they cannot be accepted as they currently stand
