Takenoko Board Game Card Holder

Takenoko Board Game Card Holder

I've been playing Takenoko for quite some time now, and I find it to be a fantastic board game overall. However, one thing that stood out as needing improvement was the fact that I had to either hold the objective cards in my hands or memorize them. Holding them was uncomfortable because my hands were needed for other actions, while memorizing them was equally uncomfortable due to frequent forgetting and constant need for reference. To address this issue, I decided to design an objective card holder that would make it easier to keep track of both ongoing and completed objectives. The holders are designed with facing slots for each type of objective, which greatly simplifies gameplay. After using these card holders for a while, I firmly believe they've made the game much more enjoyable. They're long enough to hold three objective cards without overlap but can easily accommodate five or six cards with some overlap. The slots for completed objectives can hold up to 12 cards, far exceeding my needs in any single game - even my best performance ended with 11 completed objectives, including the Emperor Card. These card holders fit neatly inside the original box's compartment for the water irrigation canals, with two easily accommodating the space if more are needed. Additional holders can be stored under the plastic blister that holds all the components. It's likely that this design could also work for other board games using similar-sized cards (4.5 x 6.5 cm), despite having "Takenoko" written on it - a small price to pay for improved gameplay experience.
