Take the PLA Cooling Challenge!

Test Your 3D Slicer and Printer with This Challenge and Improve Quality Print the pla_cooler_test1.stl model using PLA and no support material, then optimize your slic3r and printer settings to achieve the best quality possible. For example, take a close look at how clean is that inner surface of the ball? Your goal is to get it as perfect as you can. Next, print the pla_cooler_test2.stl model using the exact same settings. This model is identical to pla_cooler_test1.stl except it has two additional 'needles'. Don't worry too much about tiny details. Compare the quality of both prints. Do you notice a difference? One print may have a cleaner inside ball surface than the other, or one may have less defects overall. You can ignore any flaws that are easy to fix, but pay attention to bigger issues. If your second print turns out better, that's a sign your cooling process could be improved. This is exactly where the Customizeable PLA Cooler from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:625303 comes in - it may be just what you need.
