Tak - Two Sided Board and Pieces
thingiverse
A double-sided Tak board (6x6 and 5x5) with playing pieces is constructed using a combination of boards and bases. Small neodymium magnets are glued into the corners, providing surprising strength that requires careful polarity consideration to ensure proper attraction between corresponding corners on both sides. One side has positive poles facing inward, while the other side has them facing outward. This alternating pattern is replicated on the base box with positive poles facing up in one corner and down in the next, alternating around the entire perimeter. A diagram accompanies this text to clarify the polarity setup, but a simpler approach involves placing magnets only on one side of the board and orienting all poles in the same direction. The base box includes reminders for the number of pieces required for each board size, such as 6:30/1 for a 6x6 game, which means using 30 stones and one capstone per player. To facilitate gameplay, the board has been marked with a 4x4 grid on the 6x6 side and a 3x3 grid on the 5x5 side. The board's large size barely fits within an Ultimaker 2+ bed at 7.25 x 7.25 inches (184.15 x 184.15 mm), suggesting that scaling may be necessary to accommodate larger magnets or omitting them altogether.
