Taj Mahal
thingiverse
I tweaked an existing design, eliminating the pillars and floor element. Upon printing at smaller scales, the dome's peaks turned out disappointingly thin and fragile. They literally broke off on my first print due to their weak structure. Aside from that, the model printed with remarkable precision and clarity. I employed Slic3r to prepare the layers, using rectilinear mode with automatic support and a 3-layer raft. Printing ABS on a glass bed, I found that a stable base was crucial for secure adhesion of the first layer. As it turned out, the generated supports were surprisingly minimal, consisting mainly of a slender pillar centered within the model to provide stability to the upper dome section.
