cults3d
Fishing lure crafted from tropical black-lipped pearl shell (Pinctada margaritifera), discovered in 1964 during an archaeological excavation at Tairua on New Zealand's Coromandel Peninsula. This discovery holds immense significance as it was created by early Polynesians in East Polynesia, around the early to mid-1300s, and brought to Aotearoa with the original settlers via a waka canoe.
