Taino Ritual Seat, Duho, Dominican Republic
thingiverse
This is a Duho, the Taíno Ritual Seat. The Duho is a Pre-Columbian wooden seat crafted in the form of a man on all fours by the Taino people of the Dominican Republic. Found in the homes of 'Taino caciques' or chiefs throughout the Caribbean region, these seats played a crucial role in maintaining Taino political and ideological systems and served as literal seats of power, prestige, and ritual. Duho's were created before Christopher Columbus landed in the Caribbean, making them an essential remnant of the Taino culture and civilization that existed prior to European arrival. This is a 3D printed replica #3 of a Duho, available for purchase here: https://etsy.me/2zb5ez4 Please share a photo if you print this design.
