I drive a 2002 Chevy pickup and have experienced two instances where a plastic retainer on the tailgate handle snapped off. In both cases, it was the same part that failed. Since these retainers are sold in pairs due to their specific orientation for each side of the tailgate, I needed to come up with an alternative solution. Given the high cost of purchasing the official pair, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a replacement myself.
