This is a replica of the Taghboy Sheela-na-Gig captured by Jim Higgins when the sculpture was first unearthed. Jim told us that the carving was first spotted on the gable end of the church during an assessment to aid the removal of ivy from the structure. The ivy was cleared and the stone fell from the top of the building, knocked loose by a strong gust of wind. It was documented, and noted that there is a groove for a cross in the top of the stone. The stone was later put back on top of the church on the Gable end. This replica is an upside-down version of the carving as it is taken from a mould. It's fascinating to compare with the 3D model of the actual stone, which was recorded with a zoom lens camera.
