(Tactile) Particle Detector Jigsaw
thingiverse
This interactive exercise demonstrates how the multiple layers in Large Hadron Collider particle detectors are specifically designed to detect various types of particles. Designed with accessibility in mind for both visually impaired and seeing students, it allows them to explore the inner workings of these detectors. The jigsaw puzzle consists of a central core piece, followed by three distinct shell pieces. Each shell piece is carefully crafted to stop specific types of particles, which are represented by unique beam shapes that vary from one particle type to another.
