Tactile black hole image
thingiverse
In 2020, the Event Horizon Telescope captured a stunning image of the massive black hole at the heart of galaxy M87. Following years of tireless effort, in 2022 the collaborative team unveiled an innovative three-dimensional model they had crafted from the collected data. It vividly depicts the silhouette of the black hole against the radiant backdrop of scorching plasma plummeting inward. This tactile replica is a manifestation of that image in tangible form. Raised Braille markings are seamlessly integrated along the sides for the benefit of individuals with visual impairments or blindness. This model comes in three distinct versions: a single-color variant that can be easily printed, featuring only Braille text; a version employing one color change to position text for sighted users at the base; and a multicolored edition utilizing advanced printing technology to achieve the same effect.
