This device is to adjust the lighting level on the rear license plate lights. LED lights can interfere with the Tacoma 3rd gen backup camera, making it hard to see when using it at night. This device stops the light from shining into the backup camera while still allowing full illumination of the licence plate. The 1.5" model is what I have installed. If you still do not like the amount of light in the camera, try the 1.75" model, but be careful as law enforcement may be more likely to pull you over if they cannot read your license plate.
