Tacoma (2nd Gen) coin tray phone charger
thingiverse
I designed a holder/charger that perfectly fits into the little coin tray next to the shifter of the 2nd gen Toyota Tacoma, which spans from 2005-2015. To enhance its functionality, I cleverly included space to insert one of the affordable wireless charging chips available on Chinese online marketplaces like AliExpress for around $4. Currently, the wireless chip is securely attached with hot glue while I work out any potential issues that may arise during use. When summer arrives, I plan to re-evaluate and potentially improve this design. The pad accommodates phones with cases measuring up to 165mm x 84mm or approximately 6.5in x 3.3in in size. Initially, I had concerns about the top-heavy design slipping out of the tray, so I added sand to the base during printing. However, upon closer inspection, it fits snugly into the tray and may not have required additional support after all. To achieve a realistic carbon fiber look, I printed this model on its side, where layer lines add to the visual effect. Two versions are available: 'Tacoma Tray Charger Carbon,' which is the version I created for my truck before conceptualizing 'Tacoma Tray Charger TRD' – a modified design featuring a prominent TRD logo.
