Tabulate corals, or Coelenterata, are an extinct group that disappeared at the end of the Paleozoic era. Artur Pacyga scanned a specimen in Dr. Franek Hasiuk's GeoFabLab (Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences, Iowa State University) using the MakerBot Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner on "dark" setting for detailed imaging. This process was repeated to ensure accuracy in the final scan.
