TABLO Tablet Organizer

TABLO is a Tablet Organizer designed specifically for my grandmother. Many table holders we saw failed to deliver or only worked if you didn't have a case on the tablet. Or they may only work with either phone or small tablet, or they don't support having cable connected to the device while charging. We conducted extensive testing for the design. After each printing, we discussed problems and thoughts for improvements, making it better every time. Here are some of our thoughts as we improved: We wanted a strong tablet holder for large tablets. My initial idea was to look like a Santa Sleigh, but then I thought maybe like a shoe design might be good (like a boot), That was V1 (version 1). It worked okay, but took a lot of material and time to print. So, I recently visited the Hoover Dam, and for some reason this made me think of inserting holes into the larger portion of the block (kind of like a swiss cheese). This makes the organizer use less material and keep it lighter, but still using arch principles to keep it strong (V2). Still, even with 20% fill, this takes my printer over 14 hours to print. Also I realized angle of the tablet device is important, but I didn't want a holder with long "legs" that are brittle (thin) or taking a lot of space. I thought maybe we could use "screws" inserted from the back, but this is complicated to print correctly and requires very precise fitment. I recently built some model catapults, and I realize they just use a peg to hold arms into place. So I borrowed that idea, using two interlocking pieces. One piece (looking kind of like a ladder) inserts into slots, and pegs from the top hold the "ladder" into place (V3). The pegs can also have custom decoration at the top, or can have utility like a bottle opener (or magical aura, maybe a clover!). Then my grandmother is often writing letters and things, so I had an idea to also add pen holder cups to the sides, or slots for holder paper clips or other small things (like batteries or medicine containers). We tried small-wider cups and tall-thin cups; and we also thought maybe instead of cups, turn those around and instead make them handles. (V4) We had an idea to save more material by making more holes at the top. And additional holes at the base for inserting charging cables. We also adjusted the pegs a little better for easier to insert and fit without much sandering after the print. And we angled the side cups slightly. (V5) My grandmother also reads a lot of magazines, so we have an idea next to make a TABLO Extension that is inserted into the top (using the large slots we have there already). This makes the TABLO even taller, making it a little nicer to also use a book or magazine holder! We test printed this Extension and have made some refinements on the dimensions and support. (V6) Next we organized the files a little better, making four main groups: base, extension kit, wall/base mount kit, and peg accessories. This is good for printing in different colors these parts. We had some refinements for the cable management. For the extension, we tried a "lip" on one side, but decided longer legs is better way. We tested printed everything to make sure the fitting is ok. A little sanding or filing may be necessary. Usually this stand can be used outside or inside, on a table. But with the large holes, it would also be strong enough to hang on the wall for areas like exercise (running or rowing) machine or a patio wall (watching videos or playing music). This design has a lot of versatility, so I hope you will like it!
