Tabletop Tri-Mode Spring Motor Rolling Chassis
cults3d
Tabletop Tri-Mode Spring Motor Rolling Chassis is a new addition to my spring motor designs, "pull back windup". This small vehicle may not surpass my previous designs for distance, but it adds a third mode "pull back windup" to the power and true coast modes of my previous floating pinion designs. Those previous designs utilized a single floating pinion ("Drive Pinion") that allowed the vehicle to truly coast by disengaging the rear axle from the spring motor, but relied on a knob or key to wind the spring. This design adds a second floating pinion ("Wind Pinion") that enables winding the spring by rapidly rolling the vehicle in reverse, making knobs and keys unnecessary. A video of the prototype is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYvMv_0V4Kw. To assemble this model, you will need to purchase 12 "AS 568" size 221 o-rings for the tires, which have an outer diameter of 1 7/16 inches, an inner diameter of 1 11/16 inches, and a diameter of 1/8 inch. If you encounter any issues or missing files during assembly, please don't hesitate to ask. This design was created using Fusion 360 and sliced with Cura 2.3.1 before being printed in PLA on an Ultimaker 3 Extended.
