Tabletop Mountain, Capetown
thingiverse
Constructed from 1 arcsecond resolution SRTM data obtained by the Space Shuttle, resulting in approximately 1 million facets. Furthermore, a new version has been created that encompasses Capetown down to Hout Bay utilizing an unreleased iteration of SRTM2STL. The source code responsible for generating files at 3 arcsecond resolution is now publicly accessible on github under the GNU license. Navigate to github and search for SRTM2STL. Instructions For optimal viewing, consider printing the map in a relatively small format. This can help mitigate warping issues encountered when using PLA materials, particularly when attempting to print Raised Relief Maps that span larger areas. Despite some degree of success with bigger maps, I have noted significant warping problems when printing them out in full size.
