Tablet Stand (Folding)
thingiverse
This is a 3D printable version of a folding tablet stand that takes design cues from the Satechi R1 brand tablet stand. While achieving this look and some strength requires various parts and assembly, the process itself is somewhat straightforward. Components are divided into main pieces and plates or gaskets that provide added strength. Glue these elements in their respective spots to form complete components, then fasten them together with printed "pins" covered by chamfered end caps. Components Needed: -Base: base top coin holder (worth 60 cents in nickels) base bottom large hinge large gasket 3 -Arm: main arm arm plate small gasket 1 small gasket 2 large gasket 1 large gasket 2 -TabletHolder: holder plate holder holder plate small hinge small gasket 3 Gaskets are crucial for the hinges in the main arm, allowing it to be printed flat. In this orientation, the hinge rings would be too weak without them, so glue is applied inside for support. Take care when placing the gaskets into the main arm because breaking the hinge loops with a tight fit can easily occur. Make sure they slide in easily and let the glue hold their position before moving forward. With the gaskets in place, you should be able to secure them tightly enough so that hinges are not loose even under weight. Insert the large and small pins into the base and holder components by attaching the arm component to its respective parts. The (pins) print in halves, ensuring a clean cylinder when assembled with glue and pressed together to complete assembly. The fit must be tight or else the hinge may fail under tablet weight - minimal sanding and a vice can help facilitate this process. Even with thorough handling, glue can still make things stronger by tightening hinges, but only if applied carefully. Assembly Guide: - Check YouTube videos provided in the link.
