This is an attempt to convert a budget-friendly 10-inch Chinese tablet into a 2-in-1 device. The tablet, like many others, came with a clip-on case featuring a folding cover that's intended to double as a stand. Unfortunately, its foldable design makes it pretty useless for holding a keyboard, and it's not much better at serving as a stand either. I wanted the ability to hold my tablet on my knee while sitting in an armchair, but this setup didn't meet those needs. The kickback stand was designed using Openscad, allowing users to easily customize it to suit their preferences and tastes. The stand requires attachment to the back of the case, which is approximately 6mm tall, making it relatively easy to handle. For this purpose, sticky pads or double-sided carpet tape can be used; these are fairly simple to remove once they're no longer needed. The stand securely holds my tablet exactly as I envisioned. Other published stands that I came across require gripping the tablet at its lower screen edge. However, this design flaw prevents them from functioning properly when the case is open to support a keyboard. I chose the TechGear Active Strike USB Bluetooth Keyboard due to its affordability (£12), compact size, and compatibility with my needs. This keyboard comes with a foam base attached using 5 tabs of glue; I removed that adhesive backing. To attach the keyboard to the soft side of the tablet's front cover, I used Velcro self-adhesive tape. It's essential to place the tape with the soft (loop) side facing the screen and the hard (hook) side on the back of the keyboard. Be sure not to join them until the adhesive has had a few hours to set; this will ensure a secure attachment. When attached, the keyboard holds the front cover rigid and is also easy to remove. The combination works surprisingly well as a 2-in-1 device, rendering me less tempted to purchase one. I'm still learning Openscad, and if anyone can shed light on what causes the warning message, I would greatly appreciate it.
