Tablet case for Fire HD 8th gen.
thingiverse
Hi, I'm 16 years old and created something for all FIRST Global robotics teams. For the 2018 event in Mexico City, we're all using this tablet. As part of Team Slovenia, my mentor had me design and build a simple solution to keep our robot control unit safe during preparations. It's a cool tablet case held together by four M4x45 screws with no nuts, just threading in plastic. The two supporting legs feature eight indents for small permanent magnets (7mm wide, 3mm thick) with some hot glue. The case requires about five millimeters of insulation inside to keep the tablet stable. I used soft packing foam but other options include thin packing materials. This insulation acts as a bumper if the device is dropped; it should cover all sides except where there are holes for power and volume buttons. Special attention was paid to the micro USB port: I wanted to make sure it wouldn't get damaged during transport, so the socket houses an entire connector hot glued in place. This ensures the tablet moves with the connector and not separately. I glued our USB hub with an additional charge or OTG latch inside. The supporting legs are practical as you can have the tablet standing vertically, on its side at a sharp or shallow angle, or even mounted to a medium-sized metal beam (but not aluminum)! A small piece of plastic keeps the screen clean of scratchy things if it falls over - which it won't, because I made it so good. It took me some tries and effort before I was ready to share this thing. I designed it entirely in Tinkercad and appreciate your feedback and support for sharing cool projects in the future! If you like this thing and what I did, you may also send a tip!
