Tablecloth clip
thingiverse
Would you rather spend hours upon hours creating your own tablecloth clips from scratch instead of purchasing them for just 10¢ each? I took matters into my own hands by designing and manufacturing these clips myself, all thanks to a growing frustration with the poor reviews I kept coming across online regarding commercially available clips. I discovered that most were plagued with issues such as unexpected breakage or cracking overnight, not to mention a consistent failure to accommodate table thicknesses of various sizes. Voilà - my DIY solution! Here's why it outshines its competitors: First off, these clips are designed for stacking, which is incredibly convenient when carrying them to outdoor events. Need four, eight, or an entire bunch? No problem! They're lightweight and take up hardly any space in your bag. Next up: flexibility. By using polycarbonate to print my own clips, I was able to create sizes that accommodate table thicknesses of anywhere between 3/8" and a full 2 1/2". The larger size has a much more generous range, spanning from 3/4" all the way to 3". Last but certainly not least: added corner stiffness. It may seem like a minor detail, but it really does make all the difference in performance. If you want to give this project a try, here's what you need to do: 1. Print just one clip if you must - or go for all four, but please opt for a material that can provide both stiffness and flexibility. I used polycarbonate myself. 2. Just a heads up: neither ABS nor polycarbonate are resistant to UV damage. What this means is they'll start breaking down and losing their flexibility over time if exposed to the sun's rays. That's it - happy printing!
