Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a racquet sport similar to tennis that differs in that the playing surface is atop a fixed table rather than the court on which players stand. Individually or in teams of two, players take turns using small rackets to return a light, hollow ball over the table's net onto the other half of the court until they fail, which results in a point for the opponent. Play is fast, requiring quick reactions and constant attention, and is distinguished by a greater emphasis on spin than in other ball sports, which can significantly change the trajectory of the ball.
